The Vietnamese national football team is set to compete in the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, with matches scheduled between March 2025 and March 2026.

Vietnam's journey to the Asian Cup 2027
After securing the 2024 AFF Cup title in Thailand, Vietnam is now setting its sights on the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers and other major tournaments such as the AFC U23 Championship and SEA Games 2025.
In the third round of qualifiers, Coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad has been placed in Group F alongside Malaysia, Nepal, and Laos. Vietnam is considered the strongest team in the group, but Malaysia remains a tough opponent after naturalizing seven high-quality players following their 2024 AFF Cup disappointment.
The third round format consists of 24 teams divided into six groups of four. Each team will play in a home-and-away round-robin format from March 25, 2025, to March 31, 2026. Only the group winners will qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Vietnam will kick off their campaign on March 25, 2025, with a match against Laos at Binh Duong Stadium during the FIFA international break. This will also serve as an opportunity for Coach Kim Sang Sik to refine tactics and test his squad ahead of upcoming tournaments.
