According to the newly released report “Strategy for Managing and Developing the Online Gaming Industry in Vietnam 2025–2030”, jointly conducted by TikTok and Sensor Tower, Vietnam and Southeast Asia currently boast the highest mobile gaming growth rate in the world, at 7.4% annually from 2022 to 2025.
The Vietnamese gaming industry is projected to reach USD 1.66 billion in revenue by 2025 and continue growing steadily at an annual rate of 9.77%, hitting USD 2.42 billion by 2029. The country has 12 million gamers, with 70% playing on mobile devices.
According to Statista, mobile games in Vietnam alone are expected to generate USD 712 million in revenue by 2029.
In global rankings, Vietnam ranks third - only behind China and the United States - among the world’s top ten mobile game publishers. Vietnamese titles iKame, ABI Games Studio, and Bravestars were all featured among the world’s top ten most downloaded mobile games.
In 2023, Bloomberg named Vietnam one of the top five mobile game-producing countries worldwide, with 4.2 billion global downloads - a growth rate 2.5 times higher than the global average. This highlights Vietnam's creativity, production capabilities, and global competitiveness in the gaming sector.
A major driver behind this impressive growth is Vietnamese users' strong enthusiasm for mobile games.
TikTok has played an increasingly influential role in the Vietnamese gaming ecosystem by blending gameplay with elements of local culture, music, and entertainment.
A LiveOps survey revealed that 59% of TikTok users had discovered new games through creative content on the platform, while 64% had interacted with gaming content that incorporated music, lifestyle, and entertainment themes.
TikTok’s strategy to support game publishers
One of the highlights of the Gaming On TikTok Hanoi Summit 2025 was the presentation of strategic solutions to help game publishers optimize the entire player journey - from discovery to installation, engagement, and long-term retention.
By combining localized content with trend-savvy storytelling, TikTok has gamified content in an organic and culturally relevant way, turning gameplay into relatable narratives linked to users' hobbies, music, and daily life. As a result, game campaigns gain stronger community connection and engagement compared to traditional advertising methods.
Speaking on TikTok’s strategic vision, Nguyen Lam Thanh, TikTok’s Vietnam representative, said: “The government is restructuring its management systems and fostering the growth of cultural industries, with gaming identified as a key priority.
The introduction of occupational classification codes will enable tailored support programs and tax incentives to help Vietnam’s gaming industry thrive. In the future, TikTok aims to be a platform that not only empowers Vietnamese game publishers but also promotes them as cultural ambassadors, representing Vietnam with pride and positivity.”
