Minister of Public Security To Lam (R) meets with deputy commander of KNPA Min Gab Ryong

At a reception for visiting deputy commander of KNPA Min Gab Ryong in Hanoi on May 24, Minister To Lam said the cooperative ties between the MoPS and Korean law enforcement agencies, including the KNPA, have seen positive development.

The effective cooperation between the two sides has contributed to elevating the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea to a new height, he said.

Lam added that his ministry is deeply aware of the importance of cooperating with police forces from other countries, including the KNPA, in crime prevention and combat for security and order in the respective nations as well as in the region and the world.

He suggested the two sides enhance cooperation in crime combat and criminal justice in addition to expanding collaboration in other potential fields.

He recommended increasing information exchange, experience sharing, and coordination in cracking down on crimes, especially terrorism, trans-national crime, drug and human trafficking, and hi-tech crime, Lam said.

This is important to ensure safety and security for citizens to travel from the respective countries to live and do business, he noted.

He called on the two sides to tighten coordination at multilateral cooperation forums and support each other for mutual benefits.

For his part, Min Gab Ryong hoped the fruitful cooperation between the KNPA and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will help cement the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Earlier the same day, the first Vietnam-RoK deputy-ministerial police cooperation conference took place in Hanoi.
