The Vietnam men’s national football team is starting the New Lunar Year out in the number one spot in Southeast Asia in the latest FIFA rankings for February.

The team climbed one notch to 132rd overall in the world, 17th in Asia and clinched the first place position in Southeast Asia.

Other team rankings in the region were Myanmar (141st in the world), Thailand (143rd) and Malaysia (154th).

Iran took the lead in Asia, followed by the Republic of Korea, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.

There were no changes in the top three spots where Germany led trailed by Argentina and Colombia.
