CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Vietnam Eric Yeo met the press recently at an event discussing the business prospects and technology trends in 2024.
Asia Pacific is an important market for AWS which explains why the company has invested $10 billion in the region.
In Vietnam, AWS is pursuing a long-term development strategy, injecting millions of dollars into infrastructure, local human resources development, and training workers with cloud computing skills. The company is also joining forces with key industries, focusing on generative AI, data analysis and helping businesses digitize.
Yeo has given four predictions about technology development in 2024. AI assistants will be a trend, improving the capabilities of software developers and helping them become more creative.
The assistants will accelerate the process of coding so that coders can spend time on more important and creative work, while businesses will have time to focus on more complicated fields.
AI-based assistants will also help solve problems, thus allowing developers to quickly resolve issues.
In 2024, technology that serves women’s health, Fem Tech, will be a focus. Women, for example, can buy morning-after pills and menstrual cups with deliveries at home. The technology also aims at improving health care for everyone.
The other trend is developing higher education suitable to the development of technology. According to AWS, previously, a bachelor’s degree was enough for one to find a job, but now, many industries require higher professional levels. Schools will have to cooperate with businesses to create workers capable of satisfying the requirements at work.
AWS has trained 21 million workers all over the world recently and equipped them with the skills satisfying requirements.
Yeo said that generative AI will affect all kinds of work. The LLMs of generative AI available are all in English, so they bear the characteristics of the nations using that language.
Therefore, other countries need to develop LLMs using their languages so that the models bear their own cultural characteristics.
He believes that generative AI will changes everything quickly, from construction to retail. And this is just the beginning.
In Vietnam, AI is being used mostly in customer care services, especially in banking and insurance in the time to come. Around 91 percent of people polled in Vietnam have interest in the technology, the highest among surveyed markets.
