Following Vietnam’s historic victory in the 2024 AFF Cup, the Hanoi People’s Committee announced a 2 billion VND (approximately 84,000 USD) reward for the national football team to celebrate their outstanding achievement.
On the evening of January 5, Vietnam clinched the AFF Cup title after defeating Thailand 3–2 in the second leg of the final, achieving a 5–3 aggregate victory.
To promptly encourage and motivate the team, the Hanoi People’s Committee decided to present this reward in recognition of their relentless effort, fighting spirit, and remarkable performance throughout the tournament.
Hanoi officials praised the team's unwavering determination and exceptional display of resilience, particularly during the decisive match at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium.
Of the 26 players who represented Vietnam in the AFF Cup 2024, 10 hailed from Hanoi. Key contributors included Nguyen Quang Hai, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Nguyen Flip, Pham Tuan Hai, Do Duy Manh, and Nguyen Thanh Chung.
Their efforts were instrumental in Vietnam’s path to victory, further showcasing the strength and talent emerging from Hanoi’s football programs.
This marks Vietnam’s third AFF Cup title, following previous triumphs in 2008 and 2018.
The team’s victory not only reaffirms their dominance in Southeast Asia but also cements their status as a regional powerhouse in football.
