“Our view is that Vietnamese and foreign movies should be treated and managed alike,” said Luu Dinh Phuc, head of the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications.

There have been films invested VND50-60 billion in the Vietnamese film market. This trend seems not to stop and more money will likely be poured into the movie market.

Vietnamese film directors and producers believe the development of online movies will continue but that they will not replace cinemas.

The draft revised Law on Cinema has been a topic of discussion not only in the media and on social networks but also at a recent National Assembly session.
