On March 10, as part of the official state visit to Indonesia by General Secretary To Lam and his delegation, Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung and Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto signed and exchanged a Letter of Intent on cooperation in science and technology.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
This agreement marks a milestone in the scientific and technological collaboration between the two nations, laying the foundation for future joint initiatives and projects.
Shared vision for development
Ahead of the signing, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and Minister Brian Yuliarto held discussions on potential areas of collaboration. Both Vietnam and Indonesia share a common goal of overcoming the middle-income trap and becoming high-income developed nations by 2045. Science, technology, and digital transformation have been identified as key drivers to achieve high economic growth in the coming years.
During their meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on national policies that promote investment in research and development, mobilizing resources to enhance scientific and technological progress, and increasing the application of advanced technologies across various economic sectors.
They also emphasized the need to strengthen institutional linkages between research centers, universities, startups, and innovation hubs to foster a thriving ecosystem for scientific collaboration.
