VietNamNet Bridge - Police Director of Kien Giang Province, Ms. Bui Tuyet Minh, 51, has become the first female police officer in Vietnam who was conferred the major general. Minh is also the first female police director of a province in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Public Security recently held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Prime Minister and to award the general rank to leaders of police agencies.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Tran Dai Quang congratulated the officers who were promoted to the rank of general, while emphasizing that it is the recognition and appreciation of the Party, State and people for the significant contribution of the people's police forces in the protection of security and order and it marks the growth and development of the police force.

General Tran Dai Quang suggested the officers who were promoted to the rank of general this time to continue the glorious tradition of the People's Police Force, to train and maintain revolutionary morals, the absolute loyalty to the Party, to wholeheartedly serve the country, the people and to preserve the morals of generals.

Among those who were promoted to the rank of generals this time is Ms. Bui Tuyet Minh, Director of the Kien Giang Provincial Police Agency. She is the first female officer in the police force who is promoted to the rank of major general.

Minh was born in 1962 and became a scout at the age of 19. She was then appointed as the deputy leader of the reconnaissance team of Kien Giang province in 1989, then Chief of the political work team in 1996, Chief of the organization department in 1999, deputy police chief of Kien Giang province in 2004.

In June 2011, she was appointed as the police chief of Kien Giang province. She is also the first woman in Vietnam who holds the police chief position of a province.
