The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI) under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), in collaboration with partners, has announced activities to take place within the framework GameVerse 2025.

With the theme "Connecting Verses," GameVerse 2025 will open up an experiential space where participants can directly explore products, services and technologies, and communicate with leading experts and entities in the gaming industry.

The activities within the framework of Vietnam GameVerse this year will begin in February and conclude in May 2025 with an important event to take place in HCMC.

The major activities of Vietnam GameVerse 2025 include the Vietnam Game Awards 2025, Vietnam Game Forum 2025, along with collaboration, investment, and entertainment activities. With an expanded sphere and an engaging series of events, the festival is expected to attract 40,000-50,000 attendees.

ABEI director Le Quang Tu Do said the main goal of the event is connecting the involved parties, the state, businesses and gamers, to help them better understand each other, thus creating a strong Vietnamese game community.

The second goal of GameVerse is inspiring young people who are passionate about pursuing a career in the gaming industry.

"There are kids who are just 9-10 years old, but can earn millions of dollars on Roblox. And there are gaming companies that are among the highest growing in the world, which can be called unicorns, but no one knows about them," Do said.

"These stories will be brought to GameVerse to inspire students and startups to pursue their big dreams, which in turn will create many new unicorns for Vietnam," Do said.

The third goal of ABEI is changing people’s preconceptions about games.

The gaming industry can bring positive things, but it has been subject to negative criticism. Gaming is an industry that can contribute significantly to the country's development and attract foreign investment. It is also an easy industry in which to start a business.

"No other industry but gaming allows you to sit at home and use your knowledge about programming, and earn big money easily," Do said.

All countries that want to develop gaming industry have to follow a formula and build four pillars: develop a game production industry, develop eSports movement, host major game distribution events that gather many businesses, and receive strong governmental support.

Do said China, South Korea, and Japan all follow this approach. Gameverse, in this context, is the third pillar mentioned.
