VietNamNet Bridge – Vietjet Aviation Jointstock Company (Vietjet Air) and Vladivostok International Airport, Russia on September 6 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will pave the way for the Vietnamese low-cost carrier to open direct flights from Vietnam to Vladivostok.

The MoU was signed during the 17th session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-governmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Co-operation in Vladivostok last week, witnessed by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and his Russian counterpart Igor Shuvalov.

Vietnam is a very popular destination for Russian tourists, who flock to the country’s beautiful beaches as well as major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City throughout the year. A new air route connecting Vietnam and Russia will undoubtedly boost trade relations and tourism flows between the two sides.

Besides planning new routes linking Vladivostok to popular hubs in Vietnam, VietJet will expand its network throughout Southeast Asia. VietJet also plans to offer Russian tourists connecting flights to Singapore, South Korea and Thailand from Vietnam and more destinations will soon be added, including Siem Reap in Cambodia.
