With the vocal support of their home fans, the hosts controlled the match from the outset. Striker Hai Yen bagged a hat-trick and Hong Cuc also scored in an eventful first half.
After the break, Viet Nam scored six more goals thanks to the efforts of Cuc, Thao Nguyen, Phan Thi Trang and Vu Thi Thuy.
In the other Group B match, Myanmar drew 1-1 with Chinese Taipei.
The win pushes Viet Nam up to third in Group B, behind Chinese Taipei and Myanmar.
They will meet Chinese Taipei today, while Myanmar face India.
The qualifying round attracted eight teams who were divided into two groups and will play in a round robin format to select the best two from each group for play-off matches.
The winners will compete against Japan, South Korea, China, North Korea and Australia in the event's final round which kicks off in October 2013.
