Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has praised diplomatic corps for developing the fine friendship between the Vietnamese people and those from other world nations.
On February 10, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) hosted a year-end meeting with diplomatic corps, international and non-governmental organizations in the lead up to the upcoming lunar New Year Festival (Tet).
In her address, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan thanked and appreciated the support and help from these foreign representative agencies over recent years, which she said, is a valuable source of encouragement for the people of Vietnam on the path of developing and building a prosperous society.
Doan also congratulated the VUFO on its tremendous achievements in promoting peace, solidarity and friendship and calling for foreign and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) aid.
These achievements have positively contributed to effectively implementing State and Party policies and deepening the friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and other countries throughout the world.
"In any circumstance, strengthening solidarity among nations across the globe is always a crucial element significantly contributing to the country’s success and accomplishments over the past years. We hope that the VUFO and its member organizations will make greater efforts to achieve better results in the coming years," Doan said.
VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong hailed the strengthened ties of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and world countries. In particular, last year’s NGO aid of US$304 million greatly contributed to poverty reduction, socio- economic development and health care, education, environmental protection, emergency aid, climate change response and settlement of post-war aftermath in Vietnam.
Morocco Ambassador in Vietnam and Diplomatic Corps Head, El Houcine expressed his pleasure to see Vietnam integrating rapidly into the global economy as a result of the government’s economic reform efforts during the past three decades.
The signing of free trade agreements (FTAs), the formation of the ASEAN Community in 2015 and the achievements of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiation process will help Vietnam boost its deeper economic integration.
The Moroccan diplomat said he hopes that Vietnam will fulfill all the goals set for 2015 and further foster its relationship with foreign organizations through peaceful cooperation for mutual benefit.
