Anh was voted one of the most important officials of the national football governing body after the first conference of the VFF's new executive committee yesterday in HCM City.
Anh, formerly the VFF's chief of the secretariat, received 100 per cent votes from the delegates. He will replace Ngo Le Bang and will work in the agency's seventh term during 2014-18.
"Thank you to all the delegates who showed trust in me and voted me as the VFF's general secretary," stated Anh after the conference.
"We have held many discussions before finalising a suitable person for this position. Anh is an experienced official who is really good at diplomatic activities. I think he will bring fresh air to VFF and help us fluently manage all work," noted VFF's newly elected Chairman Le Hung Dung.
Anh, 43, has worked in the VFF for a decade. He played an important role in VFF's different affairs, including inviting the Barcelona B team to Viet Nam in 2005 and U-23 Brazil in 2008.
Anh graduated from the Sports College in 1992 and the Ha Noi National University of Education of Foreign Languages in 2000.
Anh debuted at the VFF in 1993 and has been the head of the secretariat since 1997.
At the conference, the VFF also assigned the heads of the different departments.
Among them, Nguyen Van Mui will take charge of the Referees Section, Nguyen Hai Huong will be the head of the Disciplines, and Tran Anh Tu will be responsible for the Futsal.
