The relics of Shakyamuni Buddha, recognized as a national treasure of India, will be paraded and enshrined in HCM City and three other provinces for public veneration.
India’s government will officially transport sacred Buddha relics - recognized as national treasures - to Vietnam by military aircraft, marking a spiritual highlight of the 2025 United Nations Day of Vesak hosted by Vietnam.
Vesak 2025 is expected to strengthen exchanges and friendship between the Vietnamese people and international friends, and affirm Vietnam’s position and responsibility to the UN and the international community.
A detailed proposal will be submitted to the Government in April, with preparations underway for major cultural events and international participation.
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and city authorities are working together to ensure the event's success, with completion expected by mid-April.
The United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 will officially commence on May 6 at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, with the presence of Sri Lanka’s president and Bhutan’s Queen Mother, among other distinguished guests.
