Bai Tu Chinh (Vanguard bank) is on the Vietnamese continental shelf. Vietnam has been using and exploiting it in a stable manner. This has never been a sovereignty-disputed area.
China’s survey vessel Haiyang Dizhi-8 and its escorts have conducted regular oil exploration activities and expanded operations in the Tu Chinh-Vung May or Vanguard Bank region of Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
Carl Thayer from the University of New South Wales (Australia) made a comment on the return of the Chinese Haiyang 8 infringing on Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
No Vietnamese citizen can feel assured looking at the Chinese self-created nine dash line, watching Chinese activities to build an airport and military base, obstructing Vietnamese fishermen, and exploring oil in Vietnam’s territorial waters.
It is obvious that China has no legal waters which could be the overlapping area, or in dispute w with Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and the southern continental shelf, including the Vanguard Bank.
About 250 nautical miles from the shore, DK1 platform is a group of economic, scientific and technological service stations of Vietnam in the East Sea.
Many international experts have criticised China's illegal activities in the East Sea and demanded China to end its actions that have increased tensions in the region.
The Tu Chinh reef (internationally known as Vanguard Bank) is located in Vietnam’s 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone and completely belongs to the country.
