On March 13, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh introduced their new signing, Kevin Pham Ba, a French-born player with Vietnamese heritage through his paternal grandfather.

Born on February 3, 1994, and standing 1.81 meters tall, Pham Ba has spent most of his career playing in France before deciding to return to his father’s homeland to play for Thep Xanh Nam Dinh.

The club highlighted his speed and versatility, stating that his primary positions are right-back and center-back.

With Pham Ba included in Thep Xanh Nam Dinh’s squad for the second half of the LPBank V-League 2024/25 season, the club decided to leave midfielder Hendrio out for the remainder of the season.

This move means Hendrio will not be able to sign with another club since the transfer window has already closed, forcing him to watch from the sidelines until the next season.

The decision is particularly unfortunate, as Hendrio has been instrumental in supporting his teammate Nguyen Xuan Son, contributing significantly to the club’s success.

Hendrio faces a frustrating wait after being left out for the rest of the season.

In another transfer update, Hanoi Police FC has officially extended the contract of Brazilian center-back Hugo Gomes.

Having joined the team at the start of the 2024/25 season, Gomes has been a key figure in the squad, playing 20 matches and accumulating 1,755 minutes of game time. Despite his defensive role, he has managed to score three goals and provide one assist, proving his value to the club.

Thanh Hoa makes changes as Lam Ti Phong departs

Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa FC saw a significant change in its roster. On March 13, midfielder Lam Ti Phong bid farewell to the club after more than two years.

Having signed a three-year contract in late 2022, Lam Ti Phong has struggled for game time this season under coach Popov, leading to his departure.

To fill the gap, Thanh Hoa FC has signed Vietnamese-Laotian midfielder Damoth Thongkhamsavath. Born in 2004, Damoth has a Vietnamese grandmother from Quang Binh and has already earned 11 caps for the Laos national team.

Before joining Thanh Hoa, Damoth won the Laos Premier League title with Ezra FC, where he was named Player of the Season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 12 matches.

Mark Huynh signs long-term contract with Hai Phong

Another Vietnamese overseas player, Mark Huynh, has signed a contract with Hai Phong FC until 2028.

The 2002-born midfielder, who specializes in left midfield and left-back positions, developed through the youth system of Seacoast United in the United States. He previously underwent trials with Binh Duong FC but was unsuccessful before securing a move to Hai Phong.

Mark’s parents are both of Vietnamese descent, adding to the growing number of overseas Vietnamese players in the league.

With an increasing number of Vietnamese heritage players returning to play in the V-League, clubs continue to tap into international talent pools to strengthen their squads.

While some players have found new opportunities, others, like Hendrio, are left facing an uncertain future until the next transfer window.
