VietNamNet Bridge – The 2014 V-League season officially wrapped up last weekend after the 24th-round matches. Despite tying 1-1 with SHB Da Nang, defending champions Becamex Binh Duong players and local fans had a jubilant festival at Binh Duong Stadium on August 10 as they were crowned the 2014 V-League champions and the trophy was handed over.

Binh Duong experienced a memorable campaign, making history as the first team to ever be crowned V-League champions three times. They reached the title with one match in hand, winning a total of 49 points with 15 wins, four draws and just three losses.

Former champions Hanoi T&T finished as runner-up at this year’s tournament with 47 points, seven points above the third-place team, Thanh Hoa.

It came as no surprise that Hung Vuong An Giang stayed bottom of the overall standings with 12 points. The southern team displayed poor performances from the beginning of the 2014 season, conceding 16 defeats and snatching just three wins and three draws. An Giang will have to play a playoff match against First Division third-place XSKT Can Tho to vie for a slot in the 2015 V-League campaign.

Hoang Vu Samson of Hanoi T&T was named top scorer of the 2014 V-League with 23 goals.

Here are the results of last-round matches: Becamex Binh Duong 1-1 SHB Da Nang, Hoang Anh Gia Lai 2-1 Vicem Hai Phong, Quang Ninh Coal 2-0 QNK Quang Nam, Hanoi T&T 5-2 Thanh Hoa, Dong Nai 0-1 Dong Tam Long An, and Hung Vuong An Giang 1-2 Song Lam Nghe An.
