The US State Department and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) participated in the inaugural energy security dialogue this morning in Hanoi.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy Sandra Oudkird and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong led the discussions.

During the dialogue, the US and Vietnamese representatives exchanged views on securing critical infrastructure and resources, strategic energy supply diversification, energy tariffs and pricing, technical assistance, renewable energy technology, regional interconnectivity, and held a commercial session.

In addition, the two sides discussed opportunities for US businesses in the Vietnamese energy sector. US companies have shown a strong interest in partnering with Vietnam on a wide array of energy initiatives.

Meeting with energy technology experts on March 29 preceded this dialogue. The visit with technical experts on March 29 also provided an opportunity to exchange views and information about US technologies and best practices for evaluating the feasibility of individual energy projects within an overall national framework.
