On December 27, the People’s Committee of Krông Nô District hosted a ceremony to receive the certificate recognizing Nâm B’Lang volcano as a national relic site.

During the event, Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Deputy Chairwoman of the Đắk Nông People’s Committee, highlighted the honor and pride this recognition brings to the local community.

She emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the site’s geological, cultural, and scenic values.

“Nâm B’Lang volcano is a unique natural wonder, showcasing the majestic beauty of nature and embodying exceptional historical, cultural, and scientific values for Đắk Nông Province,” Hanh stated.

As part of the UNESCO Đắk Nông Global Geopark, Nâm B’Lang represents a prime example of Vietnam’s volcanic landscape.

The site has immense potential to become a premier tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors, while also contributing to the local economy and cultural tourism development.

Unique geological features

Located at an elevation of approximately 601 meters above sea level, Nâm B’Lang volcano is shaped like a symmetric trapezoid when viewed from afar.

From above, its funnel-shaped crater and characteristic lava outflow channels are clearly visible.

During its active periods, the volcano experienced at least four lava eruptions, which flowed in different directions, forming four independent cave systems scattered around the volcanic area.

These cave systems are noted for their distinctiveness, and some of the longest and most unique caves in Southeast Asia are found here.

Archaeological studies in the area have uncovered prehistoric human remains dating back 6,500–7,000 years, further enhancing the site’s historical significance.
