Mao and his wife.
Earlier, Nam Dan district police agency received a letter of denunciation from a woman named NTH, 24, from Hung Tien commune, Nam Dan district accusing Ngo Tri Duong (born in 1984, from Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district) of raping her in the early morning of June 29, 2010. Soon after, Duong fled.
In early 2013, Duong returned home and went to the Nam Dan district police agency for confession. Duong declared that his friend--Nguyen Duc Mao (born in 1987, the victim’s husband), asked Duong to rape his wife and he arranged the case.
The reason was that Mao wanted to divorce without having to share property division. On the night of June 28, 2010, Mao invited Duong to his home for a drink then went to a coffee shop to watch football.
In the early morning of the next day, according to the "script," Duong went to Mao’s home to rape Mrs. NTH.
At the same time, Mao broke into the room to catch the act and chase his wife out of the house.
Based on the testimony of Ngo Tri Duong, the Nam Dan convened Nguyen Duc Mao and the man had to plead guilty.
After the rape, Mao petitioned for a divorce but his wife did not accept. At the conciliations, the wife’s family asked Mao to pay her two gold rings and VND500,000, the wedding gift that the woman received from her mother on the wedding day. However, Mao only turned back the gold rings, not the money yet.
Notably, after being accusing of betraying her husband and sent back to her mother’s home, Mao’s wife has shown signs symptoms of mental disease.
The case seemed to be at a deadlock when Duong suddenly returned home and denounced Mao as the instigator.
