The first part will be led by conductor Tran Nhat Minh with a performance of HBSO choir with piano and band, taking audiences on a journey to discover U.K’s music from the classic period of George Frideric Handel with “Halleluja” from “Messiah” with church influence to the romance period with Edward Elgar for Ave verum, who is famous for sweet and romantic melodies.
The journey will suddenly break the tender ambiance with Bohemian Rhapsody of Freddie Mercury who was the soul of the famous rock band Queen. The later part of the journey will bring audiences to musical pieces of the twentieth century with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Medley” from “Phantom of the Opera” and Jellicle Songs from “Cats.”
The second part features the modern ballet “Dream Puzzles” by two young choreographers Phuc Hai and Phuc Hung. The ballet is inspired from the saying of Cherry Hartman “When your dreams are shattered, sweep up the pieces and keep them. Little points of hope can be found in the ruins of dreams.” It will be performed by HBSO Ballet with music of Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Max Richter, Vu Viet Anh and Nguyen Manh Duy Linh.
