Nguyen Duy Khuong, born in 2000, from Tay Ninh, and Huynh Thai Nhut, born in 1999, are fortunate to have found such happiness. Both families respect their sexuality and their same-sex love.

Khuong and Nhut met on Facebook in mid-2023. At that time, Nhut was working overseas while Khuong was living in Tay Ninh. They chatted as friends on social media.

Nhut was the first who realized that his heart was stirred. Khuong remembers that Nhut took care of him very carefully and satisfied his every wish. There were moments when Khuong wanted to retreat due to uncertainty of his own feelings, but Nhut remained persistent.

Slowly but surely, in mid-2024, Khuong accepted Nhut's love. They started dating even though they had never met in person.

In November 2024, Nhut returned to Vietnam and they met in real life. They came to visit Nhut’s parents and before departing, Khuong was worried as he was not sure if their love would be accepted by Nhut’s parents.

Surprisingly, everything went more smoothly than expected. Khuong was warmly welcomed by Nhut's parents. Nhut's grandmother had some initial reservations, but was eventually moved by the couple’s genuine love.

“We all had a meal with the presence of all family members, including uncles and aunts. Nhut’s mom told me to stay overnight, and led me to greet relatives the next morning,” Khuong said.

Khuong realized his true sexual identity in childhood, but he had to hide it from his family. Only when he began a relationship with Nhut did he find the courage to come out.

On November 19, 2024, Khuong brought Nhut to his home to introduce him, confidently stating "This is my boyfriend". 

After the statement, he noticed somberness on his parents' faces, but Nhut's lively and active behavior soon dispelled the tension. In the end, Khuong's family accepted their relationship.

As the two families live 42 kilometers apart and had to travel back and forth to meet each other, Nhut’s mother urged the couple to marry soon. She took the initiative to call Khuong's parents, talking about engagement and wedding ceremonies.

A wedding ceremony was held on December 1-2, 2024 with the presence of 700 guests.

The groom's family brought a bridal gift consisting of eight trays of fruits, one tray of tea and wine, and 11 gold bars. Thai Nhut's mother gave the couple VND100 million in cash as a personal fund, and Khuong’s parents gifted their son four gold bars as a dowry.
