VietNamNet Bridge – On April 6-7, in separate incidents, two women in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong were struck by lightning and killed, according to local authorities.
The more recent incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Trung Hiep Village, in the Hiep An Commune of Duc Trong District. Mrs. Mai Thi Thanh, 52, was killed by lightning while working in her nursery.
A day earlier, on Sunday afternoon, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc was working in her garden when she was killed by a lightning strike. Cuc, 32, was Vice Headmaster of a local primary school.
According to Lam Dong Province’s Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control, in the past two weeks, the province has recorded five downpours, hailstorms and thunderstorms. The roofs of over 300 houses, schools and offices in the districts of Da Huoai, Da Teh, Bao Lam and Duc Trong sustained damage.
In the central province of Quang Ngai, whirlwinds also damaged the roofs of over 250 houses in Son Linh and Son Giang Communes of Son Ha District, on Monday evening.
