On the evening of December 14, the audience in HCMC can come to an East-meet-West musical space where saxophonist Timothy Sun and pianist Jacqueline Leung from Hong Kong will perform in the cosy space of the Soul Live Project Complex at 216 Pasteur Street, District 3.

The "La Vie en Rose: The Allure of the Tango" concert allows the audience to enjoy French and Chinese classics in a brand new way.

"La Vie en Rose: The Allure of the Tango" concerts of Timothy Sun and Jacqueline Leung have gained lots of recognition and success in Hong Kong (2011), Macau (2012), and Singapore (2012).

This time, the duo will treat the HCMC audience with a night of classy and rhythmic Tango pieces, together with classical music, Christmas songs and rearranged versions of French and Chinese tunes for piano and saxophone.

Starting from primitive African tunes, Tango has spread globally. With the catchy rhythm that touches the hearts of music lovers by its dynamics and power, Tango quickly became a classy genre of music.

Timothy Sun and Jacqueline Leung, who have delighted audiences across Asia with their entertaining and charming stage presence, will bring Tango closer to Vietnamese music lovers through this event.

Timothy Sun is the first Chinese saxophone and clarinet student of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under a full scholarship for his Bachelor’s degree in England in 2001 and then furthered his performing career here after graduation. He had given recitals at such venues as St Martin-in-the-Fields, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Centre and Southwark Cathedral in London, and his performances had been broadcast on BBC radio.

Timothy Sun has staged more than 100 recitals and orchestral concerts in Asia and Europe.

Accompanying Timothy Sun in many Asian tours since 2001 is pianist Jacqueline Leung. A player possessing musicality, intelligence and technical finesse, she is in demand as a concert pianist, masterclass teacher, workshop leader and adjudicator in Hong Kong. She has collaborated with some of the world’s distinguished musicians including Robert Aitken, Andras Adorjan, Jasmine Choi, Iestyn Davies and Trey Lee.

Described as “leading Hong Kong musicians” by HK Radio 4, the duo Timothy Sun and Jacqueline Leung have delighted audiences across Asia from Hong Kong, Macau to Singapore.
