Leaders of Can Loc district of Ha Tinh province confirmed the news on April 29 evening.
One victim, 80, cycled out to visit one of his friends on April 28. On the way back, he suffered from heatstroke and fainted under a tree on the side of the road.
People discovered and took him to hospital for emergency treatment, but he died shortly from heatstroke.
The other victim, 70, also suffered from heatstroke when he walked home at noon on April 27. He fainted and died shortly afterwards.
All three regions of Vietnam have been enduring a heat wave for several days, with daytime temperatures hitting 38-40°C or above.
Several localities in the central region even recorded high temperatures of 42-44°C on April 29.
Meteorologists recommended people, especially elderly people and children, to stay indoors these days to avoid heatstroke.
