VietNamNet Bridge – The Congress of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) of the 7th term is scheduled to open on June 5. From now on, the most concerned issue is the election of the VFF Chairmanship. On March 28, VFF will introduce the key candidates for the two most important posts of the VFF - the Chair and the General Secretary.

VFF Vice Chair Le Hung Dung.

As usual, the VFF Chair may recommend the candidate for the post before retirement but until now, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hy has not revealed his choice yet because "it is not a reasonable time," as Hy said recently.

According to regulations, the VFF will have to send the list of candidates to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Government.

The outstanding candidates for the VFF Chairmanship have not been revealed, but it is not difficult to know that VFF Vice Chair Le Hung Dung and the Vice Chief of the General Departments of Sports and Physical Training cum VFF Vice Chair Pham Van Tuan are the top candidates. In addition, it is said that Chairman of the Vietnam Professional Football JSC (VPF) - Vo Quoc Thang - is also highly appreciated.

Mr. Pham Van Tuan is currently the Vice Chief of the General Departments of Sports and Physical Training, the superior body of the VFF. Tuan’s appointment as the Vice Chair of VFF not long ago is seen as a step for "taking over" the VFF Chairmanship.

Tuans’ “rival” is VFF Vice Chair Le Hung Dung. In VFF, Dung's voice is very heavy. Being in charge of finance, Dung is a man who dares to speak and dares to do. He played the key role in recruiting coaches for the national football team. Dung is also regarded as the major sponsor of the V-League.

Talking about the criteria for selection of the new VFF Chair, Mr. Hy said that the VFF Congress would make the final decision. Whoever is chosen should also have the support from many sides, including State management agencies.

Hy added that the upcoming Congress is a chance for the VFF to reform itself in the more dynamic, positive and effective direction, to help Vietnamese football overcome the current difficulties.
