A tragic traffic accident occurred in Nam Can Commune, Ky Son District, Nghe An Province, where a truck carrying dong leaves (leaves traditionally used for wrapping sticky rice cakes) crashed into a grocery store, resulting in the deaths of six family members.
On the morning of January 13, authorities from Nam Can Commune confirmed the incident, which happened at approximately 4:00pm on January 12 along Provincial Road 543D in Tham Hin Hamlet.
The truck, a 1.5-ton vehicle loaded with dong leaves, reportedly lost control and careened down a slope, crashing into a family’s grocery store owned by Va Ba D.
The collision claimed the lives of Le Thi K. (the mother of Va Ba D.), his sister-in-law, and four children. Among the children, two were Va Ba D.’s own, and the other two were his brother’s.
Local police and authorities from Ky Son District quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
The truck driver was detained for questioning to aid in the investigation.
By 1:00am on January 13, authorities had completed their examination of the site and returned the victims' bodies to their family for funeral arrangements in accordance with local customs.
