VietNamNet Bridge – A bridge will be built to replace the Chau Giang Ferry now being used on the Hau River in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, according to the Ministry of Transport.

The management board for Project No. 7 under the ministry submitted the proposal for the project which will include total capital of more than VND938 billion (US$41.2 million).

The project is an investment of Phat Dat Corporation in collaboration with 620 Infrastructure Development and Investment Corporation and 168 Construction Development Investment Joint-Stock Company.

The contract is under the investment mode of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) to ensure safety and traffic flow on N1 street.

The new Chau Doc Bridge, which will be 667m long and 12m wide, will include two automobile lanes and two motorbike lanes.

It extends from the city of Chau Doc to Tan Chau Town.

The bridge will be located 1.5km away from the current Chau Giang Ferry, according to Nguyen Chung Khanh, general director of the project’s management board.

Construction, which will begin at the end of the year, is expected to take 18 months.
