The discount will be available for the North-South and Hanoi-Lao Cai routes, starting from December 1.

Earlier, the Vietnam Railway Corporation launched a big promotion program, with 30-50 percent discount from September 4 to December 31, for tickets booked in advance for a distance of 1,300 km or more.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year, from February 8 to March 2, 2015, passengers will be served with 14 pairs of Hanoi-HCM City trains, totaling 12,000 seats each day.

There will be about 3,000 seats/day on trains from HCM City to Hue, Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, and Phan Thiet; 10,500 seats/day for trains from Hanoi to Vinh, Thanh Hoa; and 4,500 seats/day on the trains from Hanoi to Lao Cai.

Last Tet thousands of tickets for the Hanoi-HCM City route were unsold because the fare increased by 10 percent.
