The 2nd Kon Tum Brocade Color Festival was part of the program to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the founding of Kon Tum province (February 9, 1913 - February 9, 2023).
The event was recently held at Kon Jo Dri Community-based Tourism Village in Dak Ro Wa commune.
At the festival, artisans had the opportunity to exchange experiences, contributing to building a unique community tourism environment, imbued with traditional cultural identity of ethnic minority communities in Kon Tum city in particular and Kon Tum province in general.
According to Vice Chairman of the Kon Tum City People's Committee Phan Ngoc Dinh, for many generations, brocade weaving has been a traditional craft, an indispensable part in daily life and has become the cultural identity of ethnic minorities, including people from villages of Kon Tum city.
To develop community-based tourism, maintaining the traditional crafts of ethnic minorities, including brocade weaving, plays a very important role.
Because each product made from brocade has unique stories about history, cultural identity, beliefs and aesthetic values that is very interesting to domestic and foreign tourists.
Therefore, preserving and developing brocade weaving not only contributes to preserving and promoting culture, but also helps create jobs, improve people's lives, and promote socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas.
Besides the Kon Tum Brocade Color Festival, the People's Committee of Kon Tum City has officially introduced the Kon Jo Dri Community-based Tourism Village.
