Thousands of villagers and interested onlookers enjoyed a wrestling festival which took place in Sinh village in Phu Mau commune of Phu Vang district, located in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue Province on February 14.
![]() The annual festival began early in the morning on the 10th day of the Lunar New Year. ![]() The festival dates back over 400 years, the competition was originally started to strengthen solidarity among local people and to develop cultural traditions through multiple generations. ![]() Some of the village's older residents sat in a communal house, keeping a close eye on the competition. ![]() Before beginning the competition, the wrestlers must bow before the village’s older residents. ![]() ![]() The festival frequently draws a large crowd, including both local people and villagers. ![]() Throughout the event the young wrestlers show their competitive spirit. ![]() The strong skills of the wrestlers are on display during the competition. ![]() The event takes place amid a large sand ground. ![]() Wrestlers are made up of people from Phu Vang district and neighbouring Quang Dien district. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
