VietNamNet Bridge – Three-wheeled motorized vehicles and non-motorized three- and four-wheelers will be banned on many more roads in HCMC from the end of this month.
The decision on prohibition and restriction of three-wheeled motorized vehicles and non-motorized three- and four-wheelers in downtown HCMC and some other parts of the city was issued by the municipal government this Tuesday and will come into force after 10 days.
In comparison with Decision 37/2009/QD-UBND and Decision 94/2009/QD-UBND released in 2009, the new decision names more roads in the outlying areas to forbid certain types of vehicle during rush hours.
Specifically, these vehicles will be banned on the downtown routes Hai Ba Trung-Ton Duc Thang-Ham Nghi-Pham Ngu Lao-Nguyen Thi Nghia-Cach Mang Thang Tam-Dien Bien Phu-Hai Ba Trung.
In addition, they cannot travel on certain streets in the outlying areas, such as Phan Dinh Giot (the section from Nguyen Van Troi to Truong Son), Truong Son (from Phan Dinh Giot to Hong Ha), Tran Quoc Hoan, Hoang Van Thu, Nguyen Van Troi, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia (from Dien Bien Phu to Nguyen Van Troi) and Vo Van Kiet (from Lo Gom to Ton Duc Thang).
As for traffic time, the decision stipulates three- and four-wheelers cannot travel on 27 routes in the inner city areas from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Furthermore, they will not be allowed to take 14 routes in the city’s outskirts from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
However, vehicles for the disabled and those used for garbage collection can travel on the above routes.
The new decision annuls Decision 37/2009/QD-UBND dated May 19, 2009 and Decision 94/2009/QD-UBND dated December 18, 2009 of the HCMC government and any document contrary to it.
