Speaking to local media, a representative from the Co Am Commune People's Committee said that the tragic accident occurred at 2.20 am on February 1, killing a 43-year-old woman and her two children aged 6 and 8.
"Luckily her 16-year-old managed to flee," the representative said.
When firefighters arrived, the fire had spread all over the one-floor house. Rescue teams broke the locked door and found three bodies inside.
According to the committee, the woman and her husband rented this 150-square-metre house to live with their three children. The house was also used as a stall selling rice porridge. When the fire occurred, the husband was out working on a night shift.
Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the fire.
