HAI VINA Kim Lien Ltd Company in Nam Giang Commune, Nam Dan District earlier announced a salary increase of VND200,000 (US$9) per worker as of this month. However, employees discovered their pay packets were unchanged upon receiving this month’s pay.
The company explained that they cut the allowances, worth a total VND450,000 per month, per worker.
Nguyen Hong Son, vice chairman of Nam Dan District People’s Committee, told danviet.vn that local authorities discussed the issue with the company on Tuesday afternoon.
Son said the company did not violate any regulation because in the past, the company voluntarily offered the extra allowances, so it could remove them if it chose.
Son said the company should explain the policy to its employees.
Lao động (Labour) newspaper on Wednesday reported that the workers continued their striker and gathered in the company’s factory yard.
