Recently, the love tale of the groom Trinh Van Phong (born in 1991, in Cam Che commune, Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province) who is 1m37 tall, and the bride Le Thi Dieu (born in 1997, in Nhu Thanh district, Thanh Hoa) who is 1m62 tall, has sparked discussion among the online community.

Trinh Phong comes from a household of two brothers. Like many other children, he was born weighing 3.7kg. However, as he started first grade, he began to mature slowly. His family took him to a clinic, where he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficit.

He said that he did not undergo therapy at the time owing to challenging family circumstances. Because of his poor self-esteem and shame as a child, he did not dare play with the local kids. But he grew accustomed to it over time, and the older he became, the more he understood that he should hang on and try many times harder than others.

He moved to Hanoi in 2016 to attend Thanh Xuan Vocational School. He returned to his hometown in 2018 to launch a mobile phone repair and sales store. Fortunately, since he has been operating the shop, his job has been pretty seamless. His shop is currently doing well and providing a steady income.

When asked about his love story, Mr. Phong mentioned that Dieu built a manicure salon near his shop. Mr. Phong would occasionally go to Dieu's business to converse, and ask for her phone number. Every day, the two texted and confided in each other about all sorts of things, gradually developing a soft spot for each other.

Before agreeing to marriage, the two had been together for three years. However, in order to be where they are now, there were countless obstacles to overcome, especially criticism from Dieu’s family. With sincerity, Phong demonstrated to Dieu's parents that, despite his unfavorable look, he himself was a guy of strong willpower, and would be a firm shoulder for his partner to rely on.

Because of his short stature, the groom had to stand on the podium during the wedding ceremony to cut the cake and pour wine with the bride. Many people were moved by the image of the couple walking side by side.

Dieu was willing to go against all odds to follow her heart, stating: "Knowing that people's scrutiny is inescapable, my heart tells me that Mr. Phong is a kind, loving man who always gives his all, whatever the circumstances. He constantly compares his life to a story about a rabbit and a tortoise competing; the tortoise knows it will lose but must run as fast as it can. He has suffered so much and all I want is to be with him to share his joy, trials and tribulations of life."

When asked about their future plans, the couple say they want to manage a YouTube or TikTok channel to share more about their lives with everyone. They, like many other couples, hope to welcome children soon and build an even happier home.
