The love story of Trinh Van Phong, born in 1991, in Cam Che commune of Thanh Ha district in Hai Duong province, only 1.37 meters tall, and Le Thi Dieu, born in 1997 in Nhu Thanh district of Thanh Hoa province, 1.62 meters tall, has stirred up the netizen community.

Trinh Phong was born into a family with two brothers. He weighed 3.7 kilograms at birth, but began growing slowly when he entered the first grade. Doctors said he lacked growth hormones.

Phong said the family was in difficult condition, so he could not get treatment. He did not dare play with the neighborhood children because of his inferiority complex. He realized that because of his condition, he needed to make greater efforts than others.

In 2016, he came to Hanoi to study at Thanh Xuan Vocational School. In 2018, he returned to his hometown and opened a shop trading and repairing mobile phones. His business has stable income.

Meanwhile, Dieu had a nail parlour near his mobile phone shop. Sometimes Phong dropped into the parlour and gossiped with Dieu. They messaged each other every day and fell in love.

However, they had to overcome a lot of difficulties and barriers before living together. Dieu’s parents opposed the marriage as they feared that the man would not bring happiness to their daughter.

However, Phong proved that despite his appearance, he made every effort to live well and the girl could count on him.

“We faced strong opposition from Dieu’s family, but we never gave up. The more difficult, the stronger our relations. I encouraged my wife to persuade her family members to accept our love,” Phong said.

Phong and Dieu organized a wedding on March 27.

Because of their modest height, during the wedding, the groom had to stand on a podium to cut the wedding cake and pour wine along with the bride. The image of the couple walking side by side touched many people.

Dieu said she knows there are many whispers and comments about them, but she ignored everything to become the wife of Phong.

“Phong is a good man. He compares his life with the turtle in the story about the rabbit and turtle. The turtle understands its problems and it needs to run with all its might. Phong has endured many disadvantages, so I want to stay by his side to share difficulties and happiness in life,” she said.
