VietNamNet Bridge – The first Miss Vietnam Bui Bich Phuong holds the record as the shortest beauty queen of Vietnam. She was crowned in 1988, at the age of 18, with the height of 1.57 meters.

At that time Phuong was a student at the English Faculty of the Hanoi University. She later won a scholarship to study in South Korea and got a master's degree at Seoul National University.

Phuong is currently the coordinator of the Higher Education and Post-graduate Fund of South Korea in Southeast Asia.

Miss Vietnam 1990 Nguyen Dieu Hoa is only 1.58 m tall. She won the crown when she was a fourth-year student at the Russian Language Faculty of Hanoi University of Foreign Languages.

Hoa then got a master's degree of business administration at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand. Dieu Hoa is fluent in five languages - English, French, Russian, Indian and Thai.

She is currently business director at a Thai company. She was married to an Indian and has three children. In 2008, Nguyen Dieu Hoa entered the top five of the Mrs. World pageant.

Miss Vietnam 2002 Pham Thi Mai Phuong has a height of 1.69 meters.

Mai Phuong was the first Vietnamese girl participating in the Miss World pageant and entered the Top 20.

After graduating from high school, she went to study abroad and then returned to her hometown in Hai Phong to get married and work.

Phan Thu Ngan is also a Miss Vietnam with a modest height - 1.69 meters.

She is appreciated for a beautiful face. After winning the title, Miss Vietnam 2000 married Phan Thanh Hai, the son of former Deputy Minister of Trade Mai Van Dau.

Sometime later, her husband and father-in-law were arrested for corruption. Mai Thanh Hai’s background as a playboy was revealed.

Thu Ngan took her two children from Hanoi to HCM City and since then she has lived away from showbiz.

Duong Truong Thien Ly is the second runner up of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, with the height of 1.69 meters on paper. However, it is said that her real height is 1.67cm.

Thien Ly was selected as Vietnam’s representative at the Miss World 2008 pageant in Johannesburg, South Africa. Thien Ly is now 27 years old. She married in 2011 and has two children.

She did not pursue the modeling career as she wished. Sometimes she appeared at showbiz events.
