1. On April 10, when bathing in the sea in Phuoc Tinh commune in Long Dien district in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, policeman Thai Ngo Hieu, born in 1989, heard someone shouting for help and realized that a group of young men were drowning in an area with deep water, fast currents and big waves. 

Hieu immediately swam to the area, struggled with the waves, and brought four individuals ashore where he gave first aid and rescued them. 

One day later, top-ranking General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, signed a decision on promoting Hieu to the rank of captain from lieutenant.

On April 13, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed the decision on awarding the Order of Courage to Captain Thai Ngo Hieu for his courageous actions to save people’s lives, contributing to the building of socialism and defending the fatherland. 

2. On a late afternoon on April 9, on the way home in Hai Hau district in Nam Dinh, former navy soldier Nguyen Van Chinh heard a voice calling for help. Looking down at the Ninh Co river and discovering someone in a white shirt reaching up her hands repeatedly in the middle of the river, Chinh jumped from a 30m-high bridge into the river and saved a girl's life.

After saving the girl, Chinh quietly left for home and did not know that his brave action had been filmed. The video clip spread among netizens and received positive remarks from the community. Local authorities at different levels praised his actions. 

Talking about his action, Chinh said this was a “normal response” that anyone would take if they were in such a case. 

However, Tran Trung Hieu, who posted the video clip on social network, said not everyone has the courage to risk their life to save others.  

“The bridge is very high, and the water ran very fast. The Thinh Long estuary is near, so Chinh's actions were really brave,” he said. 

3.  In early 2022, a fire broke out at a 3-storey house in Tuong Mai ward in Hoang Mai district in Hanoi. A teenager born in 2007 was stuck in the house. 

Hearing a cry for help, Trung Van Nam and another person climbed onto the roof to try to rescue people. Nam then jumped into the house to save a baby's life. President Nguyen Xuan Phuc then sent a letter of commendation to Trung Van Nam. 

Prior to that, Nguyen Ngoc Manh from Dong Anh district in Hanoi won millions of people’s admiration when he saved a child who fell from the 12th floor of an apartment building.
