Mr. Tu has suffered from sinusitis for years. Recently he had nose and sore throat. When dripping Vietnamese traditional medicine into his nose, the man’s descendants detected maggots in the right nostril. They took out approximately 50 white and blue maggots from his nostrils.
On the morning of November 25, Tu was taken to Thai Nguyen Province Hospital. The doctors continued to pick up more than 40 maggots from his nose.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, from the hospital’s Ear-Nose-Throat Ward said that the patient suffered from septal inflammation, necrosis and left nasal congestion.
According to initial diagnosis, as the patient with a history of sinusitis, insect eggs might enter his nose through ingestion or dripping traditional nasal medicine.
