After their wedding in Hanoi, Nguyen Thanh Hang, born in 1978 in Hanoi, and Ha Van Dong, born in 1992 in Hai Duong, held a marriage announcement ceremony in HCM City on December 20, 2024.

Hang and her sister, Thanh Ha, are well-known as the "tiny twin singers." Hang is 1.24 meters tall, and Ha 1.25 meters tall. Both have faces with youthful and delicate features.

Over 10 years ago, the two sisters met Dong, a visually impaired singer, during the filming of a music video by Doi Rat Dep (Life is beautiful) Group. After that, the trio continued to collaborate on various projects.

Initially, Hang disliked Dong because of his talkativeness and teasing nature.

In 2016, the twins set a record as Vietnam's smallest duo singers and they were invited by the Ngoc Trong Tim Group to perform in the US. 

The two girls took a trip to the US accompanied by Dong and other artists. Thanks to more frequent meetings with Dong, Hang and Dong became close and discovered similarities in their characters.

Because of Covid-19, Hang lost her job. Dong then advised Hang to sell goods online. The business brought Hang closer to Dong. Their already strong friendship deepened.

"Being older than Dong, I didn't hesitate to scold him. In return, he teased me as an older and feisty sister. We regularly contacted and saw each other, but neither of us realized our friendship had blossomed into love. Dong first noticed his feelings for me, and his family subtly supported us," Hang recalled.

Despite the 14-year age difference, Hang and Dong make a perfect couple.

Continuing the conversation with VietNamNet, Dong confessed, he enjoyed his freedom and planned to lead a single life with no intention to get married. But on a rainy day in June 2023, he felt overwhelmed by loneliness.

“I asked myself what I was striving for and what I wanted in my life. And I realized that I need a family,” he recalled.

However, Dong did not dare confess his love to Hang. He feared that if Hang refused him, their long-term friendship would be disrupted.

Finally, he gathered all his courage and proceeded on the path of conquering Hang’s heart. He asked for help from some acquaintances, who sent words intimating that Dong wanted to marry Hang. After that, he took a daring move by confessing his love, via an SMS.

Since Dong was too nervous, he immediately turned off his phone after sending the message, quietly waiting for a reply.

Receiving his confession, Hang didn't respond immediately, but pondered it for a week and then gave an equivocal answer. However, the answer was enough for Dong to go ahead and start the love story.

Becoming lovers, Hang initially felt shy, while Dong seized the opportunity to express his feelings openly.

In fact, the couple faced many difficulties because they lived far away from each other: Dong was in HCM City, while Hang was in the north. However, for Dong, it was not a serious matter. He was willing to fly between the north and the south to meet her. So, the geographic distance became no longer a challenge for them.

Initially, Hang did not have confidence in the love for fear of their age difference. She talked to Dong about her concern, but Dong reassured her.

He believed that the age difference would not affect their feelings. If their love is sweet enough, both of them will overcome all difficulties by changing themselves.

“People might think that 14 years is a big difference. However, Hang looks much younger than her age. Many people guessed that we are the same age,” Dong said.

A wedding in Hanoi was held in November 2024. 

“People might think that life is difficult for a visually impaired person. However, witnessing his achievements gained in the last 10 years, I realized that he is energetic and he can do everything himself,” Hang said.
