Omar, the Iraqi-Canadian man arrived in HCM City at noon September 11. Dubai actor and photographer Omar Borkan Al Gala became famous around the world after he was given his marching orders over concerns he might corrupt impressionable women. Since then, he has gained nearly one million fans on Facebook. In July, he explained that he was not expelled and the incident was misunderstood.
His presence at the Tan Son Nhat Airport attracted a lot of “curious” people, who had been waiting to have the first photos of the “handsome man.” However, the audience was disconcerted because Omar was not as handsome as they had imagined through photos on the Internet and the description of foreign newspapers.
From the afternoon to the evening of his first day in HCM City, Omar participated in several activities. He took fashion photos and attended the auction of his items to raise funds for charity on the night of September 11.
At the auction, Omar again confirmed to the press that he was not deported because of being "too handsome." Some fans had sympathy for his accidental famousness and insisted that he was still very handsome and sincere. But some others said that Omar took advantage of the chance to be famous and the organizers spent money in vain to invite him to Vietnam.

On September 12, the second day in Ho Chi Minh City, Omar paid a visit to the Hoa Binh Village at Tu Du hospital and then Cho Ray Hospital in the morning. At noon and afternoon of the same day, he continued to take fashion shoots and prepared for the "Dream Connection" show on the following day. At night, he appeared in a bar in HCM City.
On the evening of September 13, Omar appeared twice on the stage of "Dream Connection" in the rain. In the first time, he had a few minutes speaking to the audience. He was surprised to be presented a Vietnamese gown for men and promised to post his picture on the Vietnamese traditional gown on his Facebook page. The second time, Omar walked a few steps on the catwalk with a female model.
According to the original plan, Omar would have been on the catwalk twice with Miss Vietnam Thuy Dung, but the plan was changed after Thuy Dung cancelled the show for disagreement with the organizers.
Early morning of September 14, Omar left Vietnam, closing the 3-day trip. Besides causing curiosity about the story of "deported handsome man," Omar did not make any impression about his own career.
Omar has posted a photo taken with children with disabilities in Vietnam to his facebook page with the caption: "It was pleasure to see these kids." This photo has so far had nearly 1,600 comments and nearly 86,000 like.
