This bridge, about 100m long, 1.5m wide, is made of bamboo pieces which are connected to each other by iron wires and even bicycle tires.

The bridge serves about 1,000 households. Every day, at peak times, people have to line up, waiting to cross the bridge.

At night, without lamps, the risk of accidents is high. In the rainy season, no one dare cross the bridge.

Many accidents have occurred. Both drivers and their vehicles have fallen into the stream. Some died.

Half of the bridge become submerged when the water level rises.

Mr. Le Duy Trinh, Vice Chairman of Phuoc Thuan Commune, says the local government cannot afford to build a new bridge.

Thousands of people use the cable to cross the river every day and accidents can occur anytime.

Over the years, hundreds of people in the village of Goi Re have had to use this bridge to go to the market and school.

The suspension bridge is approximately 50 m long and 15 meters high. It is made of bamboo and steel wire.

Local residents said many people have fallen into the river but fortunately there have been no casualties.

 The local government has banned people from using the bridge in the rainy season.
