VietNamNet Bridge - Sitting in the Tu Phuong Vo Su cafe, visitors can look into the Imperial City and the residential areas inside the citadel over a moat.
Tu Phuong Vo Su is an old building, located behind the royal palace, next to the Hoa Binh (Peace) gate. The building is built on a high floor equivalent to the height of the wall of the Imperial Citadel. This used to be the place where the king and royal members rested and wrote poetry.
Tu Phuong Vo Su tower was destroyed during the war, and was reconstructed in 2010. The building is a harmonious combination of European and Hue imperial architecture, with brick walls, wooden frames, and tile roof. Around the tower is an oriental styled garden.
When the coffee shop opened in the tower, it was criticized by the public but now is a favorite destination of tourists.
This café becomes romantic at night, especially in the moonlight.
