Most of the competitors had correct answers for the questions raised by the organizers, including some difficult questions made by the advisory board. Multiple-choice questions raised in the competition focused on the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the Law of the Sea of Vietnam 2012, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, the functions, duties, and traditions of the Vietnam Coast Guard. Students actively participated in and responded to questions, creating an exciting atmosphere on the spirit of "play to learn, learn to play".

The Coast Guard helps spread love of the country’s sea and islands to the young generation.

A 9th grader named Nguyen Van Hung from class 9A, Nhat Quang Secondary School, won the first prize. Hung said that participating in the contest "I love my country’s sea and islands" he learned more useful knowledge about the country’s sea and islands, especially having a better understanding of the Laws relating to sea and islands and the Vietnam Coast Guard. He wished to contribute his efforts in sharing information about the sea and islands with friends and relatives.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Dien, Rector of Nhat Quang Secondary School said that the contest "I love my country’s sea and islands" is very meaningful. The contest has contributed to fostering patriotism, the love of the country’s sea and islands, strengthening solidarity and attachment between officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard with students, teachers and local people. At the same time, the contest helped raise awareness and responsibility of each citizen towards the cause of protecting the sovereignty of sacred seas and islands of the country.

In the framework of the competition, the High Command of Vietnam Coast Guard paid visit and presented gifts to families that are subjects to social policies and poor households; presented bicycles and scholarships to students in difficult circumstances who study well and achieve high academic achievements.
