According to Quang Chieu Secondary School, where the incident occurred, the teacher, B.T.T., took disciplinary action against a seventh-grade student (D.) on March 5 for not bringing a notebook to class.

Teacher’s explanation and school’s response

In her official statement, teacher B.T.T. explained that she noticed the student had long bangs and, using a pair of scissors borrowed from another student, cut part of his hair.

Following the incident, the teacher apologized to the student’s family and submitted a written explanation to the school administration.

The school acknowledged that the teacher’s intention was not malicious but admitted that the action was inappropriate.

“Even though the teacher may have meant well, her actions upset parents, leading to complaints,” said a school representative.

As a result, the school temporarily suspended the teacher for three days while submitting a report to the district Department of Education and Training for further review.

According to the school, B.T.T. is a contract teacher who has only been teaching at the school for a short period.

Although the school considers the matter resolved with the teacher’s apology and disciplinary action, the incident has raised concerns about appropriate disciplinary methods in classrooms.
