Authorities in Thanh Hoa Province have imposed a VND 45 million ($1,770) fine on a young man for deliberately evading military service.

On March 10, Mai Xuan Liem, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, signed an administrative penalty decision against N.V.T.A. (born 2004), a resident of Thieu Hop Commune, Thieu Hoa District.

According to officials, N.V.T.A. was found to have used fraudulent means to avoid enlistment despite being deemed fit for military service following a health screening.

In addition to the fine, he is still required to fulfill his military duty as mandated by Vietnam’s Military Service Law and related regulations.

If he fails to pay the fine within 10 days, enforcement measures will be taken in accordance with the law.
