The scandal surrounding Kera vegetable candy and rumors of a travel ban on Miss Grand International 2021 winner Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien has caused a stir in Thailand - the country where she won her crown.

As previously reported by VietNamNet, the Dak Lak Provincial Police issued a decision to temporarily restrict Thuy Tien from leaving Vietnam from March 15 to May 15 to assist with an ongoing investigation.
The National Competition Commission of Vietnam has also issued an administrative fine related to consumer protection violations involving the Kera vegetable candy case. Thuy Tien was fined 25 million VND (approx. 990 USD) for failing to disclose to consumers that she had received sponsorship when promoting the product.
Thai media outlet Sanook, one of the country’s oldest and most visited news portals, reported on the controversy. Several large Thai beauty fan pages and forums also reposted the story, sparking hundreds of mixed reactions from local netizens.
However, leading Thai mainstream media outlets such as Thai Rath, Khaosod, and Matichon have not covered the issue.

Amid ongoing debate, both Thai beauty pageant fans and Vietnamese supporters of Thuy Tien are raising questions about whether the Miss Grand International Organization will revoke her 2021 title.
As of now, neither the Miss Grand International Organization nor its president, Nawat Itsaragrisil, has made any official statement regarding the scandal.
The latest mention of Thuy Tien by Miss Grand International was in early March, when they congratulated her on becoming a “Friend of the House” for luxury brand Dior.
During his most recent livestream, Mr. Nawat received several questions about Thuy Tien and responded briefly: “Her contract with us ended two years ago.”
