VietNamNet Bridge - The British CEO of Techcombank, Mr. Simon Morris, has resigned. His position will be assumed by a member of the bank’s Board of Directors.

Simon Morris took the CEO post from his predecesor Nguyen Duc Vinh on January 1, 2012.



After nearly two years of holding the CEO post of the Vietnam Technological and Commercial JS Bank (Techcombank), Mr. Simon Morris has officially left the position, confirmed Techcombank on August 13.

Simon Morris is replaced by Mr. Do Tuan Anh – a member of the Board of Directors, but as an acting CEO.

Tuan joined Techcombank in 2007, was a senior assistant to the Board of Directors, supervisory board chief, director of strategy and development sector and a members of the Board.

Before working for Techcombank, Tuan Anh was an official at the State Bank of Vietnam.

Acknowledging the contributions of the former CEO, Techcombank said after nearly two years, the former CEO helped strengthen the bank’s system and improve the professional standards and developed the capacity of key staff in accordance with the bank’s transformation and development strategy.

The resignation of Morris is said for personal reasons, according to Techcombank.

After former CEO Nguyen Duc Vinh moved to VPBank, Techcombank recruited a foreign CEO and now a Vietnamese CEO.
