According to a CAAV document, from April 28 to May 3 and during the peak summer travel season from June 1 to August 15, the airport will put on an additional 26 parking slots, meaning airlines will be able to supply more than 4,500 to 5,000 seats per day.
The CAAV has also asked airline operators to develop plans and control measures in a bid to minimise flight delays and cancellations.
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has already announced it will increase the number of domestic flights by 2,800, offering a total of 551,000 seats during the national holiday. It will also operate more than 50 international routes to popular travel destinations.
Moreover, Bamboo Airways plans to add a further 25,000 seats per day on domestic routes, while VietJet Air will also increase 330 flights for the upcoming event, up 20% compared to its normal flight schedule.
Vietnamese people will have five days off work from April 29 to May 3 to mark Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).
